Former state House Speaker Kurt Zellers, a Republican from Maple Grove, has scheduled a 3 p.m. announcement Sunday, in which he's expected to announce a run for governor.
AP reports that Zellers, in his sixth term in the Legislature, has reserved "Zellers for Governor" Internet domain names.
Gov. Mark Dayton, whose approval rating hit 57 percent in the latest Minnesota Poll, is expected to seek re-election to a second term in 2014.
Other Republicans who've already announced a gubernatorial campaign are businessman Scott Honour and Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson.
Other likely Republican candidates include state Sens. Dave Thompson of Lakeville and David Hann, from Eden Prairie.
