A rally against gun violence will be held Wednesday in downtown Minneapolis, as the"No More Names" national bus tour comes to town.
The tour, sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, is visiting 25 states in 100 days.
The Protect Minnesota local anti-gun violence group is helping organize the rally, which will begin at 10 a.m. at the Federal Courthouse.
Expected at the rally are the sister of a Newtown victim, a survivor of the Accent Signage shooting and the family of one of its victims and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.
From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the names of thousands of people who've been killed in the U.S. by gunshots since the Dec. 14 Newtown school shooting will be read aloud. On its website, the No More Names group says that number is nearly 7,500.
Organizers say they're working to highlight "the shameful lack of action by Congress to stop gun violence." They say they are urging Congress to pass common-sense laws to save lives.
